We offer a variety of experiences for our singers to create music together through song. Our youngest singers focus on music exploration through songs and play; our older choirs learn the essentials of choral singing through a variety of challenging repertoire. SingNEPA also focuses on collaboration with other area groups including local choirs and the Northeast Pennsylvania Philharmonic.
Our innovative curriculum challenges students to develop musical literacy in a fun, supportive environment. Students build proficiency through a tiered sequence based on the Kodaly method. This emphasis on music skills and literacy means our students are prepared to perform music of a high caliber from a variety of genres and time periods; our high school students regularly perform collegiate level repertoire.
We strive to inspire our singers to embark on a rich musical life beyond SingNEPA, and we encourage our students to be active leaders in their school music programs. While many of our singers have gone on to careers in the arts, our ultimate goal is simply for students to value music as a fun, lifelong activity, and to give them the tools to continue participation after graduation.
